1958 The USA rock and roll backlash continues. St. Louis radio station KWK announces that it will no longer play rock and roll, having smashed all R&R and R&B records in the station library.

1964 Meet the Beatles LP released in US.

1966 Bill Graham puts on three-day 'Trips Festival' at Longshoremen's Hall, San Francisco.

1967 Spencer Davis Group release I'm a Man in the UK.

1968 Bob Dylan plays tribute concert for Woody Guthrie at Carnegie Hall, New York

1973 Thin Lizzy debut on UK chart with Whiskey in the Jar.

1974 Stevie Wonder returns to the stage at London's Rainbow Theatre following his recovery from a serious car crash.

1982 Ozzy Osbourne hospitalised with rabies after he bites the head off a dead bat thrown on to the stage at concert in Des Moines.

1988 Mike Love of the Beach Boys insulted just about everybody in the music business, including Paul McCartney, Diana Ross, Bruce Springsteen and Mick Jagger.The occasion was the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.The Beach Boys were inducted along with the Beatles, the Drifters, Bob Dylan, Berry Gordy, Jr., Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Les Paul and the Supremes.

1993 The Supreme Court allows Tom Waits to keep the $2.5 million that a judge awarded him after he sued Frito-Lay for using a sound alike in a commercial.

Brian flies to New York to negotiate dates and details for the next Beatles North American tour. Also for promotional visits of Cilla Black and Gerry and the Pacemakers.

'Rubber Soul' number 1, 7th week (UK New Musical Express chart).

1967
